Biography

Education and professional path

In 1974, he graduated with honors from the medical faculty of Kharkiv Medical Institute (KhMI) (now Kharkiv National Medical University) with a specialty in medical affairs. Qualification - doctor.

In 1974-1977, he was a postgraduate student of the Department of Pathological Physiology of KhMI. Since 1977 - assistant professor of the Department of Pathological Physiology of KhMI, since 1982 - associate professor, since 1987 - head. department.

Since 2013 - head. Department of Clinical Pathophysiology, Topographic Anatomy and Operative Surgery of Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. Since 2015 – vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work and development issues, ChN University named after P. Graves. Professor of the department by combination.

Trained 13 doctors and 19 candidates of medical sciences.

Author and co-author of more than 570 scientific and educational-methodological works, including 10 monographs, 19 patents, 230 journal articles, 68 of them in publications indexed in the Scopus scientometric database; 9 editions of textbooks, 15 editions of teaching aids, methodological recommendations for practical classes for students in pathological physiology in Ukrainian and English.

He interned twice in the USA - in the education system, the medical education system and in the specialty.

Member of the Presidium of the Board of the Scientific Society of Pathophysiologists of Ukraine, head of the regional society of pathophysiologists, member of the International Society of Pathophysiology, honorary member of the Bulgarian Association for Clinical and Experimental Pathophysiology, etc.

He teaches the discipline "Pathological physiology" for medical students and pharmacists.

Defense of theses

1978 – defended his candidate's thesis at the Kyiv Medical Institute named after Acad. O.O. Bogomolets, specialty 14.03.04 - pathological physiology.

1992 - defended his doctoral thesis at the Siberian State Medical University on March 14, 2004, specializing in pathological physiology.

Rank

1984 - awarded the academic title of associate professor of the Department of Pathological Physiology.

1993 – awarded the academic title of professor of the Department of Pathological Physiology.

1996 – Soros Professor.

2019 – Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.

Scientific interests: pathophysiology of inflammation, immune system, allergies, effects of ionizing radiation, metabolism.
